Ова књига почиње писмом, које је Бранко упутио свом преминулом пријатељу Зији Диздаревићу, јер је осећао потребу да свој страх од старости и смрти подели са њим. Како читаоце не би оптерећивао суморним и црним мислима, написао је ову књигу и одвео их у свет јаве и сна, у свет детињства.</span></p>

Увођењем деда Радета, јединственог и тврдоглавог јунака по свом уверењу, читаоцима се улива вера и оптимизам у неки лепши и праведнији свет, што Бранкове приповетке чини још дражеснијим. Приповетке које припадају првом делу збирке несумњиво одишу лепотом пишчевог завичаја, али и богатством и топлином емоција које из њих проистичу.
